Lush Lip Scrub Review/Demo

This passed weekend, I visited the Lush store in downtown Vancouver and bought the one product I have been hearing raves about for about a month or so now in the YouTube/Blog world: the Lush Lip Scrub (I got mine in the Bubblegum flavour.) I bought it for 11.15$, but that's in Canada, so it could be cheaper in the US and online.

As you can see in the photographs, the packaging of this product is simply adorable! Now the whole idea behind this product is that it is natural and gentle; you can lick it off your lips once you are done exfoliating!

Upon opening the jar, you can see how dry this formula is (this makes it kind of hard to get out of the container and onto your fingers to apply to your lips). Inevitably, a few chunks will fall on the floor here and there, but once you get passed this annoying flaw and onto the scrubbing of your lips, the results seem to vary. The day I purchased this, my lips were so incredibly dry and flaky it was unbearable. I tried the product right away: scrubbed, licked, and sealed with my baby lips Dr. Rescue lip balm. The results were incredible, my lips immediately felt like velvet and stayed that way for two whole days!
Today though, I noticed my lips were starting to flake again- which is in no way a reflection on the product, it's just freakin cold here in Canada! - so I proceeded to use the scrub once again, this time using a bit more product and really concentrating it into the flakes. Right away, I was quite disappointed with the outcome. The flakes had just become a little bit shorter and were not smooth at all, this time I sealed the job with my revlon lip butter as I find the Lip Butter brand to be quite moisturizing... But I can conclude for sure that these two do not make a good duo!

So all in all, like any other product on the cosmetic market, the results greatly rely on the types of formulas that you use in conjunction with one another!

I find matters like this are very personalized to your own unique skin types, but I can tell you guys that for me, the best combo was a little bit of product, gently rubbed in for a few seconds, licked off, and immediately sealed with my baby lips Dr. Rescue, though I'm sure my peppermint Burt's Bee's would work just as well.

Now on the matter of taste.....There were three choices at my local Lush store: Bubblegum, Mint, and Kettle Corn. I love mint, but the thought of swallowing it just made me think of eating toothpaste, and the Kettle Corn flavour smelled so revoltingly sweet and caramel-y that I could hardly stand to smell it.....Which lead me to my last option of Bubblegum, which is arguably quite a nice sweet flavour, but I think that this product would be so much more pleasant in a sweet cherry flavour or something more fruity!

All in all, a satisfying product, though I'm sure you could make something very similar at home in your kitchen.

That's the way I see it!
