Baby Lips, Baby......Skin?
Hey guys! So I'm sure you've all heard about the new Maybelline New York Baby Skin 'instant pore eraser', but I decided to give it a go and see for myself what it was all about!
So nowhere on the adorable baby blue packaging does it say specifically that it is a primer, but that seems to be what everybody is using it for! In doing a little bit of research, I figured out that this product was made with a duel-purpose: to either act on its own to blur and diminish the look of large pores, or to simply minimize the pores before the application of foundation to ensure that it doesn't sink in and draw attention them.
Now obviously I had to formulate my own opinion on this! So as you can see in the picture, upon applying the Baby Skin on its own, my enormous pores were shrunk down a bit (which is always nice) but since this product has no pigmentation, I found that it really did nothing else by itself because it obviously did not cover or reduce any of my redness.
So basically, if you were half a foot from my face, then yes you would see a difference. Otherwise, this really was a redundant formula. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, I applied my CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3in1 foundation (my fave!) and was decently satisfied with the results. The foundation glided on and blended quite seamlessly.
That being said, I have heard lots of talk of this product being the perfect dupe for the Benefit Porefessional primer....I completely disagree! Personally, this product is exactly the same as my Sephora ultra-smoothing base primer. It blurs the pores instead of filling them in, which I personally prefer because "filling in" the pores just makes me think that they're getting clogged!
Essentially, if you wanted a nice silicone-y textured non-pigmented primer, this is your best bet. I mean hey it's fifteen bucks cheaper than the Sephora one at least! All in all, this primer is so incredibly silky smooth and light on the skin that your makeup really doesn't feel cake-y.. you pretty much feel like there is nothing on your face at all depending on what foundation you use after! I would definitely recommend using a light and mattifying foundation or else the look might become a tad too greasy.

That's the way I see it!
